Online
consultation are not always straightforward.
We receive
online consultation on a daily basis. This is pretty straightforward these days
as patients just have to fill out the online consultation form. It is also convenient
as many of our patient come from abroad.
Online
consultation are basically a good tool to filter candidates and obvious non
candidates. Some potential candidates are Norwood scale 6 or 7 with a clear wish
to cover the entire scalp with high density. Obviously this is not possible
using hair restoration and thus we try to educate about the possible outcomes
in order to match the expectations.
Pictures
and quality
Although
many upload their pictures for evaluation it is still very often challenging to
make a good online assessment. Often the
pictures lack sharpness or proper distance, making any kind of hair estimation
impossible. Please make sure you have good pictures for online review.
Hints :
- Have a third person take the picture, do not try to make your own set of pictures
- Make sure you have adequate lighting, often picture are too dark
- Review the pictures before sending to make sure they are sharp
- Take pictures from all angles
But even we
can make judgment errors
In this
case the patient send us his pictures for evaluation. Please note that he had
an FUE hair transplant at our clinic in 2009 when we reconstructed his
hairline.
After
reviewing the pictures we received in august 2011 we believed that his hair
behind the implanted area had gotten quite thin as you can tell from the
picture.
Since this
is a foreign patient we did not see him until the day of his treatment.
As he
walked in we noticed that he wears his hair at about 5 cm length. This totally
changed his hair situation as you can tell by
looking at the pictures.
In fact the optical hair looks so thick than we
decided NOT to carry out the planned treatment because the optical outcome
could not be enhanced.
