What to do when hair loss continues after a hair restoration?

In most top hair restoration clinics worldwide patients are advised to combine anti hairloss products such as Finasteride - Keratene Retard – Dutasteride along with or even before a hair transplant procedure. These products may not increase the optical hair situation, but they will halt or slow down further hair loss for most.

The risk of not using anti hair loss products when considering a hair transplant

First of all there are no physical or health risks associated for patients that do not want to use anti hair loss products. However as you can see in the example below hair loss continued behind the transplanted hairline, creating an unnatural looking gap.

Solutions

  • ·         Shave all and forget about hair. This is possible for patients that have opted for FUE hair transplantation in as their method of preference. For those that opted for FUT or strip surgery shaving all is hardly an option since a linear scar will always be visible.
  • ·         Further hair transplantation. This option is certainly possible for those that still have adequate donor reservers. The patient in the example picture opted for another hair transplant at our institute.
  • ·         Micro hair Pigmentation. This is possible when patient prefer to shave all, but would like that ‘cool’ stubble look. Micro pigmentation can help to create the shaven look. Examples SMP shaven look
  • ·         Hair fibers Nanogen. If there are still enough hairs available it is possible to use Nanogen hair fibers in order to cover the entire area and give the illusion of hair.
