The truth about (most) anti hair loss products

Why some anti hair loss products work, and why some don’t

  • Have you ever seen Tell Sell TV or any other great advertising channel promising everyone a full head of hair almost instantly?
  • Snake oil hair loss treatments
  • Have you ever wondered why this seemingly great products are so good that … they fail to produce any results at all?

We would argue that 99% of the advertised products have NO effect on hair whatsoever.

Why do we know ?

  • We are in the business of hair restoration. We hear the stories clients telling us about ‘tried this products and it does not work’.
  • We would be out of business very quickly if there was a cheap and effective product that grows hair back.

Are there any products that have been proven to work ?

Yes, but you need to understand the limits of these products.

To our knowledge there are NO product that can achieve hair regrowth of lost hairs.  Some products can however stop or slow down further hair loss and occasionally thicken/strengthen existing hairs. For most people this works great if the products are used regularly AND long term.

Medical products
DHT lowering tablets are most effective against hair loss
  • Finasteride (Propecia) : This is a very old medical product and has a great scientific support. It is taken orally, 1 tablet per day. Finasteride works by lowering Dihydrotestosterone  (DHT). Finasteride is basically a men-only treatment, it has little to no effect on woman. Side effects are rare but possible.

Non medical products
  • Minoxidil : Works both on men and woman. It is less potent than Finasteride and is generally used for treating early signs of hair loss. It can also be used in combination with Finasteride or Keratene products (see below)
  • Keratene Retard : a newly developed food supplement that also lowers DHT levels in the male body, thus halting or reducing hair loss. It has scientific back up and it can be combined with Minoxidil. Keratene Retard should NOT be combined with Finasteride.

Where can I purchase anti hair loss products (that do work)?
